Convoy Foundation has new donor fund
Convoy Community Foundation information
CONVOY — A new donor fund has been given to the Convoy Community Foundation.
Pam Kulwicki passed away after a courageous battle against cancer on February 25. Kulwicki was born in 1946 to Paul and Janet Kirkendahl, graduated from Hamler Local School in 1964 and attended Bowling Green State University. Married to Greg Kulwicki in 1969, they moved to Van Wert County in 1970 and Mrs. Kulwicki served as a housemother at the Marsh Foundation for five years while her husband taught and coached at Crestview High School.

In 1976, she became a licensed property and casualty agent and started the Kulwicki Insurance Agency. In 1996, the Kulwickis purchased the Hilton Insurance Agency in Convoy.
The couple raised three sons who are graduates of Crestview High School and now have five grandchildren. Mrs. Kulwicki was an active member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church and a tremendous Crestview fan who, through the insurance agency, provided financial and emotional support for the school and community.
The Pam Kulwicki Fund will provide grants to support Crestview Local Schools and Convoy community projects.
The Convoy Community Foundation was founded in 1979 with the purpose of bringing a nursing home to the community. In April 1983, Convoy Care Center opened a 50-bed nursing home and three years later the foundation facilitated a 16-unit apartment complex for those of moderate income. In 1986, trustees created the Memorial Endowment Fund to generate monies to be used by the foundation in carrying on its charitable activities.
The foundation conducts such activities using only the investment income generated by the principal. Donors are assured that those assets received by the Foundation will remain in perpetuity as a living memorial. The Foundation funds are pooled for investment purposes. The contributions are professionally managed and thus donors have the advantage of a diverse investment policy.
Those who establish a fund of $5,000 or more will have a plaque mounted at Crestview Local Schools. There are many options as to how to set up such a fund and those wanting more information should contact one of the foundation’s officers: Bob Schumm, president; Joe Steffan, vice president; Denise Frey, treasurer; and Marilyn Reed, secretary.
Individuals or communities within the Crestview Local School District need to submit a grant application to the foundation by November 20 or May 20. Applications may be obtained from foundation officers or Crestview Local School District offices.
