Van Wert Works website up and running
Van Wert County information
“Bringing it home. Local talent goes far.” is the tagline that welcomes area residents when they visit the new Van Wert Works website. At approximately 8 p.m. Wednesday, www.vanwertworks.com went live.
“So far, the feedback from businesses has been wonderful,” said Van Wert County Economic Development Director Sarah Smith. “I can already see there being a need in the future to hire someone just to manage the website, which is the same thing that happened in Mercer County for their website: Hometown Opportunity.”
Van Wert Works is different from that neighboring county’s site, since it does not allow people to submit a resume’ directly on the site, but will be continually updated as new jobs and positions are made available. Four new job openings were emailed in from area companies in just the first day of the site being live. The way to apply for the jobs can also be found on the site.
“Not all of our key industries are listed on the site quite yet,” explains Smith. “In May, I visited over 45 Van Wert and Delphos organizations and businesses. It was their task to complete the information needed to add them to the site.
“Sometimes it takes the site going active and seeing you aren’t on there to give the push to get your information submitted,” she added.
Companies that have not returned information can still be added to the site by contacting the County Economic Development Office.
The purpose of the site stems from a push by the county commissioners to showcase Van Wert County. The website will provide one-stop shopping for those wanting to see what jobs and opportunities are available in the Van Wert. The website could serve to help steer a career path for talent looking to stay in Van Wert County or move home after college.
The site will also provide a means whereby people moving to Van Wert can find opportunities waiting to bring them here.
The site also has a community tab to which items will be added to highlight quality of life, as well as direct surfers to the more elaborate community tab and photo gallery on the new county website. Again, this will help those looking to make Van Wert home see all the great opportunities and assets Van Wert can offer them.
Natural Design and Graphics designed the site, while the logo was a design by Ty Coil of Real Cre8tive.
