Dorothy E. Rhoades

Dorothy E. Rhoades, 88, of Rockford, died at 6:45 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014, at Colonial Nursing Center in Rockford, where she was a patient.

She was born August 20, 1925, in Rockford, the daughter of the late Darst E. and Oriel B. (Byers) Robbins. On May 17, 1946, she married Ralph E. Rhoades, who survives in Rockford.

Other survivors include a daughter, Barb (Scott) Bowen of Rockford; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Two daughters, Debbie Fisher and Julie Eicher; and one sister, Jean Secrest, also precede her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 14, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Chip Steffy officiating. Burial will be in Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina

Calling hours are from noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
