Cougar tennis team loses to Celina

CELINA — The Van Wert varsity girls’ tennis team had its first match on Tuesday, and lost 4-1 to a tough Celina squad in a Western Buckeye League match held in Celina.

No. 1 singles player Ali Moreland was the only victorious player on the Van Wert team, defeating the Bulldogs’ No. 1 singles player Maddy Cline 6-2, 6-0.

Other match results are as follows:

No. 2 singles – Ally Harris (Celina) defeated Katie Trittschuh (Van Wert) 6-0, 6-2.

No. 3 singles – Breanne Jenkins (Celina) defeated Kali Agler (Van Wert) 7-5, 6-1.

No. 1 doubles – Nicole Elston/Cami Mohler (Celina) defeated Hannah Stemen/Sydney Felger (Van Wert) 6-3, 6-2.

No. 2 doubles – Kayleah Fischer/Miranda Rable (Celina) defeated Jess Agler/Phoebe Eutsler (Van Wert) 6-2, 6-3.

The Cougars are now 0-1 on the season, while Celina goes to 1-0.
