Upcoming competition, Fair reminders
By Rex Dolby
The Wassenberg Camera Club’s next meeting will take place Thursday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Wassenberg Art Center, 214 S. Washington St.. “Sports” will be the competition theme in prints and slides that evening.
A program on “Special Effects” will be presented by Chris Wilson and Will Hawkins following a brief business session. The two will demonstrate how to create visual illusions in an image, such as making people or objects appear to levitate, creating ghostlike images and manipulating light and colors.
Members of the community who turned in their entry forms last Saturday, or before, in order to exhibit at the fair should note that they may return to the Fair Board office starting Wednesday, Aug. 13, between the hours of 9 a.m.-5 p.m. to pick up entry tags. These tags are to be tied securely to the wire on the back of the picture frame that holds the same picture as the tag’s description. Mixing them will lead to a disqualification of the entry, so be careful. Bring your pictures for the Fair’s Photo Exhibit to the first building on the right after entering the Fair Grounds from Rt. 127 (South Washington Street) on Sunday, Aug. 24 between 1-5 p.m. The Camera Club will give four Best of Show cash awards in addition to the awards listed in the fair booklet.
