Cougar golf team 11th at Kalida tourney

KALIDA — The Van Wert High School varsity golf team traveled to Kalida on Wednesday to compete in the 18-team invitational tournament held annually at Country Acres Golf Course.

Senior Brandon Hernandez, who shot an 88, paced the Cougars. Overall, the team improved 19 strokes from its opening 18-hole match and finished 11th out of 18 teams.

Other golfers contributing scores: Jared Hernandez, 91; Daniel MaGowan, 94; and Colton Deschner, 98. The Cougars travel to Greenville Thursday to compete in an 18-hole event hosted by Turtle Creek Golf Club.
