Lauren Elizabeth Frey

Lauren Elizabeth Frey, 16, of Van Wert, died at 10:05 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2014, at her residence.

She was born February 4, 1998, in Van Wert, the daughter of Douglas Frey, who survives in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Marty (Minnig) Hohman, who survives in Van Wert.

Lauren was a beautiful and loving girl. Unable to communicate through words, Lauren helped teach so many people about life. She expressed her love by smiling at her family, nurses and therapists. Lauren will be truly missed, but it was time for her to become a beautiful angel in heaven.

She was loved by her stepfather, David Hohman; her grandparents, Frank and Mary Minnig of Van Wert and Ed and Linda Frey of Fort Wayne and Lou and Carol Hohman of Delphos. Lauren had a sister, Lindsey; and two brothers, Joshua and Jackson.

She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 23, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Stan Szybka officiating. Private family burial will take place in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Friday, August 22, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:30 that evening.
