Cougars defeat Lincolnview in v-ball

The Van Wert Cougars opened their season at the Lincolnview Lancers’ gym on Tuesday night. The crowd was pretty excited to see the first outing of the county rivals.

The Cougars started out strong in the first game with a 25-12 win, but started slow in the second game and were defeated by Lincolnview, 17-25.

The third game was back and forth between the two teams, until the Lancers suffered an injury to one of their players and Van Wert won the game 25-19. The fourth game was pretty much like the first game with the Cougars stepping up to win the final game 25-10.

The Cougars, now 1-0, will be back in action on Thursday night as they travel to Paulding to take on the Panthers. The match will be a freshman, junior varsity and varsity match. The JV match will be played first at 4:30 p.m. followed by freshmen and the varsity.

Lincolnview’s varsity team is 0-1.

The Van Wert junior varsity team defeated the Lancer JVs in three games.
