VWMS runners do well at St. John’s
VWMS cross country information
DELPHOS — This weekend the Van Wert Middle School cross country teams opened up their season at the Delphos Blue Jay Invitational. The boys were third overall in the team standings while the Lady Cougars garnered a fourth-place team finish.
Eighth grader Sierra Shaffer had the top female finish of the day; she finished third out of 71 runners. Blake Henry was the top male finisher for the Cougars; he finished eighth out of 95 runners.
Also scoring for the Lady Cougars were Emma Rutkowski, 10th; Caton Williamson, 22nd; Risa Pollock, 27th; and Rachel Verville, 30th. Emma Witten, who was 33rd, and Kaylee Okuly, 35th, completed the top seven.
Other Cougar runners competing included Stephanie Geething, Kathryn Wray, Brianna Bebout, Jenna Covey, Natalie Schreiber, Allison Hauter, Savannah Nygren, Maddie Bracken, Ciara Becker, Victoria Etzler, McKayla Money and Alaina Arney.
Additional scorers on the boy’s side were Zac Tomlinson, 16th; Lennon Bartley, 21st; Gage Chiles 39th; and Kyle Spray, 40th. Rounding out the top seven were Jacob Weiss, 44th; and Noah Arend, 48th.
Also competing for the Cougar harriers were Noah Carter, Harrison Bartley, Sam Price, Anthony Borack and Ryan Hollingsworth
