Cougar golfers drop WBL match to Kenton

KENTON — The Van Wert golf team traveled on Monday to Veterans Memorial Park in Kenton to take on the Wildcats in Western Buckeye League play. The host team had an easy time of it, shooting 171 to Van Wert’s 202 to seal the victory.

Freshman Jared Hernandez shot a 41 for Van Wert to earn runner-up medalist honors to Britton Hensel of Kenton, who was match medalist with a 39.

The Cougars return to action at Willow Bend Country Club on Thursday against St. Marys in another WBL match-up. Van Wert drops to 1-2 in league play and 2-2 overall, while Kenton moves to 1-1 in the WBL and 3-1 overall.
