Doyle D. Whitaker
Doyle D. Whitaker of Scott died at 2:07 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Delphos.
He was born November 5, 1936, in Scott, the son of the late Llewllyn and Blanche (Harmon) Whitaker. On March 20, 1990, he married Nancy Williamson, who survives in Scott.
Also surviving are four stepchildren, Tom and Angie Whitaker of Hoagland, Indiana, Tonda (Bill) Hawk of Van Wert, Susie (Neil) Blackmore of Payne and Babette (Makoto) Kurita of Houston, Texas; a sister, Anna Jean Bigelow of Scott; and 10 stepgrandchildren.
Doyle was a lifelong resident of Scott and was a tool-and-die maker at Dana Weatherhead. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1954-1958 and participated in testing the atomic bomb in Operation Redwing. He was also a life member of the Eagles.
Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
There will be no calling hours.
Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert handled arrangements.
