GROVER HILL — The Lincolnview varsity cross country teams competed in the Wayne Trace Invitational on Tuesday night in Grover Hill.

The Lancer boys won the meet, scoring just 34 points and placing six runners in the top 14 of the race. Bayley Tow won the race in a time of 16:37 and Alex Rodriguez placed third in 17:18.  Also scoring for the varsity were Trevor Neate (eighth), Colton Snyder (10th), Tyler Brant (13th), and Tracey West (14th).

“We fixed some of the things that we did not do well last Saturday,” said Lincolnview Coach Matt Langdon. “I was very proud of how the boys responded to me challenging them.

“This was a definite step forward and something to build on,” Coach Langdon added. “Bayley and Alex really looked good tonight and attacked the course.  It was fun to watch.”

The girls placed sixth overall, but were not far out of taking home their first trophy of the season. They were led by Anna Gorman, who placed 10th, and Abbie Enyart’s 15th-place finish. Rounding out the scoring was Alena Looser (23rd), Olivia Gorman (46th) and Trinity Welch (49th).

“The girls missed their goal tonight of taking home a team trophy, but we are least learning what it means to be competitive,” Coach Langdon said. “We did some good things tonight and we just have to stay focused on improving each time that we race.”
