Crestview dominates Panthers on gridiron

CONVOY — The Crestview Knights again dominated the Parkway Panthers, shutting out the visitors 35-0 in a non-conference football game played at Crestview.

The Knights scored five times, three of those in the second quarter, and compiled 419 yards of total offense, while holding Parkway to 212 yards in a well-played game both offensively and defensively.

Jake Lippi got the scoring going with a 20-yard run with 3:48 remaining in the first quarter. Jake Tatum kicked the point-after and it was 7-0 Crestview.

The Knights came back on their next possession with a 19-yard run by Malcolm Oliver at the 11:11 mark of the second period. Tatum kicked the second of five extra points and Crestview led 14-0.

A little more than three minutes later and the Knights were back in the end zone, this time after a 78-yard scoring bomb from Crestview quarterback Preston Zaleski to Nate Owens with 8:04 left in the second quarter. Tatum kicked the PAT and the Knights were up 21-0.

Crestview scored one final time in the first half when Dylan Grandstaff ran the ball in from the Parkway 40-yard line with 4:15 left in the second stanza. Tatum kicked the PAT for a 28-0 lead by the Knights.

Neither team could score in the third period, but Crestview scored once more in the fourth quarter on a 66-yard run by Zaleski. Tatum kicked the point-after for the 35-0 final score.

Zaleski was the Knights’ top rusher with 106 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Oliver had 60 yards on eight carries.

Zaleski was 5-of-9 passing for 146 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions, while Owens caught two passes for 95 yards and a TD.

Parkway quarterback Justin Barna was the Panthers’ top rusher with 97 yards on 15 carries. Barna was 11-of-25 passing for 93 yards, and Hayden Abromavich caught two passes for 44 yards to lead Parkway in that category.

Crestview will next travel to Hicksville on September 5 to play the Aces in a non-conference game.
