Ralph Edward Rhoades

Ralph Edward Rhoades, 86, of Rockford, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2014, at Colonial Nursing Home in Rockford.

He was born September 27, 1927, in Mendon, the son of the late Penn and Fannie (Fox) Rhoades. On May 17, 1946, he married Dorothy E. (Robbins) Rhoades, who preceded him in death on August 9, 2014.

Survivors include a daughter, Barb (Scott) Bowen of Rockford; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Two daughters, Debbie Fisher and Julie Eicher; and three sisters, Doris Purdy, Madge Brandt and Mary Rhoades, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 5, at New Horizons Community Church in Rockford, with Pastor Dave Souers officiating. Burial will be in Mercer Memory Gardens in Celina.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, September 4, and an hour prior to services Friday, both at the church.

Preferred memorials: Rockford Fire Department or State of the Heart Hospice.
