Thelma Mae ‘Tootie’ Allen

Thelma Mae “Tootie” Allen, 84, of Ohio City, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, August 31, 2014, at Colonial Nursing Home in Rockford.

She was born October 24, 1929, in Ohio City, the daughter of the late Peter W. and Loretta Louetta (Rayer) Wiseman. On June 19, 1968, she married Morrell Groom “Chum” Allen, who preceded her in death on June 17, 2014.

Survivors include a son, Phil Simindinger of Ohio City; three stepchildren, Nancy J. (Kurt R.) Muntzinger and Rick L. Allen, both of Van Wert, and Randy Allen of Missouri City, Texas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Four brothers, Paul Wiseman, Waldo Wiseman, Robert Wiseman and Lloyd F. “Bud” Wiseman; and three sisters, Emma Lou Myers, Marcile Edna McDougal and Helen P. Shinaberry, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m.  Thursday, September 4, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Denise Brown officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

Calling hours are from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, at the funeral home.
