COLUMBUS GROVE — The Lincolnview Lancer cross country teams competed in the Columbus Grove invitational on Saturday. The boys’ team took home the gray division championship, placing first ahead of the state-ranked host Bulldogs, and Minster.

The Lancers placed six runners in the top 25 of the race, scoring 65 points to 96 for Grove and 102 for Minster. Lincolnview was again led by a school-record-breaking performance by Bayley Tow. Tow placed second overall in a time of 16:10, breaking the existing school record held by Jeff Snyder. Tow was followed by teammates Alex Rodriguez, 10th (17:22); Trevor Neate, 16th (17:36); Tracey West, 18th (17:43); Tyler Brant, 19th (17:44); and Colton Snyder, 24th (17:54).

“Today was fun to watch,” said Lincolnview Coach Matt Langdon. “The boys really attacked the second half of the course and moved up as the race wore on. They found each other during the race and were able to create a nice pack towards the front of the race.

“Bayley had an amazing race setting the school record,” Coach Langdon added. “He has worked unbelievably hard for this and I am very proud of him. Now we have to get back to work this week and refocus our energy on the next race ahead.”

The girls’ team placed 10th overall and were led by Abbie Enyart, who ran a career best time of 21:44 and placed 22nd overall.  She was followed by Anna Gorman, 29th (22:10); Alena Looser, 60th (23:32); Trinity Welch, 79th (24:14); and Olivia Gorman, 103rd (25:36).

“The girls are slowly making improvements as a team,” Coach Langdon noted. “Abbie did a nice job today of leading and setting the pace from the front of the team.

“We need to get a little more toughness out of 4th through 7th positions and close the gap if we are going to have any team success,” the coach added. “It’s a process; as long as we are improving, then we are going to be okay.”
