Knights compete in ‘Grove CC tourney

COLUMBUS GROVE — The Crestview High School cross country teams competed in the Columbus Grove Invitational in the small school division on Saturday morning.

The boys finished ninth out of 21 teams. The Knights’ scoring runners were led by senior Branden Clayton, who placed 30th in 18:05. He was followed by Charles Thornburg, 44th in 18:23; Zach Jellison, 65th in 18:55; Adam Saylor, 76th in 19:24; and Caleb Bagley, 104th in 20:09.

The girls finished 13th out of 15 teams. They were paced by freshman Ashley Bowen, who placed sixth out of 164 runners in a time of 20:25. Bowen moves on to the top 10 all time list at Crestview High School with the eighth fastest time recorded among female runners. She was followed by her scoring teammates Leslie Skelton, 62nd in 23:41; Hali Finfrock, 76th in 24:08; Nevada Smith, 112th in 26:04; and Matteson Watts, 124th in 26:57.

Crestview’s junior varsity boys’ team finished 16th out of 19 teams and was led by Andrew Boley’s 54th place finish in 20:54, while Landon Goins was 56th in 20:56.

Crestview will race in the Tiffin Cross Country Carnival next Saturday.
