Wassenberg Camera Club officers and three members returned to the Van Wert County Fair’s Photography Exhibit on Monday evening to identify the winning pictures selected by judge Elmer Denman. It was the club’s responsibility to record all of the judge’s decisions, place the correct ribbon on the selected pictures, and group the winners of each division (Junior & Senior Color and black and white) together so the judge could better determine the four Best of Show photographs. Congratulation are due the Best-of-Show winners, Seniors, Deni Jones, Krystle Hoersten and Juniors, Chloee and Cody Gamble. Each receives a $10 check from the Camera Club for their achievement. Something new to the show this year is the grouping of all the Best of Show winners together on a separate panel.

This year’s County Fair Photography Exhibit judge, Elmer Denman, is originally from Ohio City and is just recently retired as the Campus Photographer for the IPFW in Fort Wayne, Ind., after nearly 35 years of service. Denman holds degrees from the Ohio Institute of Photography and in 1971 completed a major in Still Photography from Ohio State University. He has also juried and judged the prestigious Wassenberg Annual Photography Exhibit on three occasions.

When asked about his future plans, he indicated he either get into freelance work, or do some teaching, or perhaps both. His main focus while judging was on composition. He said the exhibit is well lit and easy to look at.

The club’s next regular meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Wassenberg Art Center. “Summer Scenes” will be the competition theme in prints and slides.  Members submitting slides are reminded that they need to resize them to 1024 pixels in a jpeg file, and rename them as: Summer Scenes. Title. your name. jpg before emailing them to President Chris Wilson at vwcameraclub@gmail.com by Tuesday, Sept.9.
