Local triathlete

Deb Ford, owner of Van Wert’s Good Earth Health Food Shoppe, is shown moments after crossing the finish line at the Nautica Malibu Triathlon in California this past Sunday morning. Ford, who trains for these events much of the year, had just completed a 4-mile run, which was preceded by an 18-mile bike ride and a half-mile ocean swim, with only minutes between events. She has participated in triathlons for more than seven years. This event raised in excess of $1.3 million for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. (photo submitted)
