VW golf team finishes 8th in WBL

WBL golf information

The Van Wert varsity golf team finished ninth in the Western Buckeye League tournament and was eighth overall in league play this year. Kenton won the tournament with a team score of 317, while Bath, which finished second in the tournament with a score of 330, was named league champion with 19 overall points. Kenton and St. Marys tied for second place.

Britton Hensel of Kenton earned medalist honors for the tournament, while St. Marys’ Carter Bowman was second and Drew Wayman of Wapakoneta finished third.

Cougar Jared Hernandez was named first team All-WBL, while his brother, Brandon, earned second team All-WBL honors.

The WBL’s 2014 “Player of the Year” was St. Marys’ Bowman, while Bath Coach Doug Davis was named “Coach of the Year” in the WBL.
