Van Wert and Lincolnview finished 1-2 in the big-school boys’ race and Crestview had two individual champions as 27 schools competed in the Van Wert County Hospital Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at the Van Wert reservoirs and Hiestand Woods.
Van Wert’s boys won their race, with five runners in the top 15, led by Connor Holliday’s fourth place finish in 16:29. Cade Fleming was seventh, Connor Shaffer eighth, Daniel Perry ninth and Ryan Rice finished 15th in the race for the Cougars.
Lincolnview’s Baylee Tow was fifth in the race with a time of 16:34, while Lincolnview finished in second place overall in the boys’ big-school division.
Mycah Grandstaff won the small-school race in 16:53, while the Crestview boys finished in fourth place. Crestview’s Ashley Bowen won the small-school girls’ race in a time of 20:27, while the Knight girls were seventh overall.
Van Wert’s girls finished fifth in the big-school division, while Lincolnview was fifth in the small-school division. Cougar Cassidy Meyers was Van Wert’s top girl finisher, taking 12th place in 21:01, while Chloe Gamble was 18th in 21:12. Anna Gorman of Lincolnview was the Lady Lancers’ top finisher in eight place in a time of 21:47.
The Lincolnview Junior High boys also dominated their race, led by Calahan Wolfrum’s first-place finish in a time of 11:05.2. Lancer Alek Bowersock was second (11:24.3), Sterling Rigdon was fifth (11.52.9), Karter Tow was 10th in a time of 12 minutes flat and Sam Myers was 12 (12:05.15) and Corbin Roberts was 15th (12:14) in the race.
