Cougar v-ball team loses in district semis
Van Wert volleyball information
LEIPSIC — The Van Wert Cougars were back in action Wednesday night as they traveled to Leipsic to take on Western Buckeye League rival St. Marys in the Division II district semifinals.
The Cougars were very pumped to be playing in the district match and had worked hard this week to prepare for the game. The Roughriders, however, came out strong and put the Cougars to the test in all three sets.
The Lady Cougars fought hard and used every hitter they had to make a dent in the Roughriders’ defense, while St. Marys’ Erika Angstmann (WBL co-player of the year) had the best game of her career in the Leipsic gym to gave the Cougars a tough game to defend.
Van Wert lost in three sets, but kept the evening full of excitement for the many supporters who came that night. Game scores were 18-25, 16-25 and 24-26.
The Cougars end their season with a 15-9 record.
