VWHS marching band has concert tonight

This evening, the Van Wert “Cougar Pride” Marching Band will present its end-of-the-season concert in the Saltzgaber Music Hall of the Niswonger Performing Arts Center. The free concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will feature music from the band’s pregame ceremony, bleacher tunes and halftime shows. Traditional school songs, along with selections from the “2 the Core” halftime series will be performed.

The “Cougar Pride” marching band had a very successful season, performing four different halftime shows that comprised 10 new songs, 55 pages of drill and added seven new bleacher songs to the band’s repertoire.

This season’s halftime shows include “UnMasqued” (music from the smash Broadway musical Phantom of the Opera), “Science Rocks” (current pop tunes with a science theme) featuring the eighth grade band,  “Infinite Math” and the season-ending “Senior Night”, which will honor graduating members of the marching band.
