Van Wert independent

A Van Wert man was cited in connection with a collision with an ambulance at the intersection of Lincoln Highway and Convoy Road this past Sunday evening.

VW County Sheriff's Star 9-2014Steven A. Sealscott, 25, of 1321 Larry St., was cited for operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI) as a result of the accident, which occurred at approximately 6:54 p.m. According to a report from the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office, Sealscott had a blood-alcohol content level of .145, while the legal limit is .08.

According to the accident report, the ambulance, owned by Brickner Ambulance Service of Van Wert, was driven northwest on Lincoln Highway by Adam Saylor, 22, of Ohio City, and was attempting to turn left onto Convoy Road when Sealscott, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck east on Convoy Road, allegedly ran the stop sign at the intersection with Lincoln Highway and hit the ambulance in the front on the passenger’s side.

Neither Saylor nor Sealscott were injured, but possible injuries were reported to Richard K. Price, 61, of Ohio City, who was seated in the passenger front seat of the ambulance, and to Beth A. Baker, 50, of Willshire, a patient who was being transported in the ambulance. Both were taken to Van Wert County Hospital for treatment.
