Van Wert Area Photography Club 12/17/14

By Rex Dolby
Seventeen members and guests enjoyed the Van Wert Area’s Photography Club’s Christmas Dinner, held Thursday, Dec. 11, in the Van Wert County Historical Society’s Clark Mansion, which was built in 1895. Located at 602 N. Washington St., it is sometimes known as the “House of Seven Oaks”. The stately mansion was decorated for Christmas, complete with a lighted tree and soft Christmas music playing in the background.
An additional treat greeted any guest who entered through the kitchen door because of the all the mouth-watering aromas drifting from the meal being prepared by Jeanne Zeigler and her capable helpers. By 6 p.m. everyone was seated around two tables in the mansion’s dining room. Following grace, all were treated to a flavorful ham dinner, salad and dessert, liberally sprinkled with good conversation. We greatly appreciate all the hospitality and hard work by the Van Wert County Historical Society members in providing such a good meal and place to meet.
When the meal was finished, the group moved to the annex where museum members had set up chairs and a table for the business portion of the meeting. Results of the meeting and the selection of the best print and slide of the year will be reported next week.
