Eric Gene Hammond

Eric Gene Hammond, 43, of Van Wert, died at 1:16 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born September 26, 1971, in Van Wert, the son of Orville L. Hammond, who preceded him in death, and Marcia K. (Snyder) Dangler, who survives in Van Wert. On August 18, 2007, he married Alison R. (Agler) Hammond, who also survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include his stepmother, Judy Hammond of Van Wert; five children, Christ Lathrope, Eric (Stephanie) Hammond Jr. and Markie Agler, all of Van Wert, and Nick Hammond and David Parsons, both at home; a brother, Neil Hammond of Van Wert; six sisters, Tina Hammond, Jessica (Josh) Dangler and Mega Pardon, all of Van Wert, Stephanie (Jerry) Hare of Willshire, Rose (Matt) Powell of Ottawa, Kansas, and Tracey Priest of Pittsville, Illinois; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

His stepfather, Roger Dangler, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conduced at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 11, at Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert, with Pastor Steve Savage officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.

Calling hours are from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, January 10, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Sunday at the church.
