Lenis M. Marsee

Lenis M. “Pete/Red” Marsee, 90, of Rockford, died on his birthday at 9:20 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2015.

He was born January 9, 1925, in Speedwell, Tennessee, the son of McKinley and Cora Ethel (Tinnel) Marsee, who both preceded him in death.

On December 31, 1945, he married Freda (Poteete) Marsee, who preceded him in death on January 16, 2005.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra Marsee of Rockford; one brother, Roy (Dorothy) Marsee of St. Marys; and three sisters, Tommy June Southard of Crestview, Florida, Emma Lou Cain of Panama City, Florida, and Carolyn (Rollie) Custer of Homosassa, Florida.

A brother, Carlos Marsee; and two sisters, Cleo Mayes and Freddie Mae Callow, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at noon Thursday, January 15, at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford, with Pastor Mark Rutledge officiating. Burial will be at noon on Friday, January 16, in Yoakum Cemetery in Speedwell, Tennessee, with graveside military honors performed by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Calling hours are from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.
