Competitors listed for county spelling bee
Western Buckeye ESC information
Sandra Freeman, coordinator for Gifted Services for the Western Buckeye Educational Service Center, has announced that the 2015 Journal-Gazette Van Wert County Spelling Bee is scheduled for Thursday, February 5, at 7 p.m. in the Marsh Foundation School auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.

Thirteen contestants representing seven Van Wert County schools, in grades 4-8, will compete for the honor of representing the county in the Journal-Gazette Regional Spelling Bee in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on March 7.
Individual school champions are:
Crestview Elementary — Hayden Tomlinson, fifth grade; Carson Kreischer, sixth grade.
Crestview Middle School — Trinity Snyder, seventh grade; Sonny Chorvas, eighth grade.
Lincolnview Elementary — Una VanWynsberghe, fifth grade; Dylann Carey, sixth grade.
Lincolnview Junior High — Kirsten Stemen, seventh grade; Kylee Mongold, eighth grade.
St. Mary of the Assumption School — Annie Renner, fourth grade.
Van Wert Elementary — KeAndre Blythe, fifth grade.
Van Wert Middle School — Grace Doctor, sixth grade; Angel Haller, seventh grade, Joey Schaufelberger, eighth grade.
Doug Grooms of Van Wert is the pronouncer for the Spelling Bee.
Judges for the contest are Crestview Program Services Director Keith Rydell, Lincolnview Elementary Principal Nita McKinney, and Sarah White, a guidance counselor at Van Wert Middle School.
Becky Diglia, curriculum coordinator for the Western Buckeye ESC, will preside as emcee of the event, while Lincolnview Marsh School Principal Robbie Breese is in charge of the physical set-up of the competition.
Van Wert Federal Savings Bank is sponsoring the awards for the event, which include cash awards and plaques for the top three finishers and certificates of recognition for all participants.
Contestants are reminded to report to the Marsh Foundation School Library at 6:30 p.m. on February 5.
