Man gets prison during CP Court hearing

Six people were sentenced and another appeared on a request to have his guilty plea withdrawn during hearings held Monday in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

Court artwork 12-2013 copyAmong those sentenced was David Boff Jr., 22, of Van Wert, who was given 18 months in prison on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender, a felony of the fourth degree.

Others sentenced by retired Judge Charles D. Steele include the following:

Jordan Perl, 22, of Van Wert, was given three years of community control, including 10 days of jail time, with work release, on a charge of attempted grand theft, a fourth-degree felony offense.

Emily Bollenbacher, 23, of Van Wert, was given three years of community control, including 30 days in jail, with work release, and had her driver’s license suspended during sentencing on Monday. She had been convicted of two counts of possession of drugs, both fifth-degree felonies; and one count each of possession of a counterfeit controlled substance and theft, both first-degree misdemeanors.

Tracy Metzger, 32, of Delphos, was given three years of community control, including up to six months in the Western Ohio Regional Treatment and Habilitation (WORTH) Center in Lima, on one count each of trafficking in heroin, a felony of the fourth degree that also includes a specification he used a 1993 Chrysler automobile in commission of the offense, and a fifth-degree felony count of trafficking in heroin.

His driver’s license was also suspended for six months and he was ordered to pay $480 in restitution to law enforcement, as well as forfeiting the automobile.

Joshua Minyoung, 31, of Van Wert, was given three years of community control, including up to six months in the WORTH Center, on one count each of possession of drugs, and trafficking in drugs, both fifth-degree felony offenses.

His driver’s license was also suspended for six months.

Brandon Salyer, 27, of Delphos, was also given three years of community control, including up to six months in the WORTH Center, on a fourth-degree felony count of trafficking in heroin. His driver’s license was also suspended for six months and he was ordered to pay restitution of $80 to the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force.

Lewis Buckner Sr., 57, of Van Wert, also appeared in court to request that he be able to withdraw his guilty plea to a charge of gross sexual imposition. The matter will be set for a hearing in the near future.
