A local computer/electronics repair/service store received a $20,000 loan from the Van Wert Revolving Loan Fund on Thursday.

Maggie Wannemacher, owner of Intermedia 3 Inc., an area Internet pioneer that now operates the PC-ER store in the local Walmart Supercenter, said the loan would be used for operational expenses, including bringing an additional service person to the Van Wert store.

“We have somebody lined up who is a native to Van Wert, but we’ve been having him working for us over in the Lima store,” said Wannemacher, noting that the person also has worked in business and school environments.

The store, which is open seven days a week, provides repair services for computers, tablets, cell phones and most other electronic devices. Wannemacher said she is pleased so far with business at the store, which opened last year.

“So far the response has been very good, very positive,” Wannemacher said, noting that the Van Wert store has seen customers from all around the area, including Rockford, Scott and Ohio City, for example.

“We’re getting them from all over the place,” Wannemacher said.

She added that she is hoping to work out partnerships with local school districts and larger businesses, stating that PC-ER is well-suited to doing the “grunt” work — switching out power supplies and other service work — that IT coordinators often don’t have time to do.

In addition, with local schools participating in the 1:1 initiative that provides computer devices and tablets to a large number of students PC-ER offers fast turnaround for device repairs, including one-day replacement of tablet and cell phone screens.

PC-ER can even replace television screens and electronic boards for its customers.

Wannemacher said the Van Wert store is open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon-4 p.m. on Sundays.

In addition to Van Wert, PC-ER also operates stores in Delphos, Lima and Wapakoneta.
