The Van Wert Area Photography Club met Thursday, Feb. 12,  at the Van Wert Elks Lodge just west of the Van Wert City Limits.  The photographic topic of discussion was “Leading Lines.”  Seventy-one percent of those attending brought photos to be projected that illustrated leading lines.  After discussing each picture, the conversation turned to organizational matters.

In a meeting set up by Tracy Sterling, Club officers met with a member of the Van Wert Civic Theater on Tuesday afternoon for a tour of their house on South Race Street.   The club is seeking a permanent home where it can have a space:  to hold meetings, to set up a permanent studio, to provide a dressing room and restroom facilities for the studio, and to store equipment and its extensive photography library.  Although the building has entry steps, it appears to be able to meet our needs.

In return for using the structure, the theater would expect the club to be good stewards of the property and to supply experienced photographers to provide publicity images for each of their productions and to take any other photos the theater might need.

Those present voted to enter into an agreement with the Van Wert Civic Theater for the shared use of its property.  What insurance we need will have to be researched and a written agreement between the two parties established.  How soon we may have access to the building may be contingent on when the agreement and insurance can be finalized.  It was also noted that we need a full inventory of  our assets to be covered by a new insurance policy. The club has greatly appreciated the hospitality of the Elks.

Another document that needs prompt attention is a revision of the club’s by-laws. The acting officers have been charged with this task and are to have the document ready for any revisions at the next meeting, which will be on March 12, at 7 p.m.  At this time, it is scheduled to be held at 114 S. Race St., next to the Van Wert Civic Theater.

Van Wert Area Photographers should be aware of the Delphos Area Art Guild’s call for entries for their 2nd Annual Photography Exhibition.  Entries may be delivered on March 4, 5, 6 and 7 and the show runs from March 21 through April 10. More information will be supplied in future articles, but you can obtain details now by doing a search on the internet for the Delphos Area Art Guild.  Click on Delphos Area Art Guild — Home. Under their hours, click on “download prospectus here”to get complete information about entering.
