2 sent to prison for violating probation

Two people who violated their probations were sent to prison during hearings held Wednesday in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

Michael Sparrow, 23, of Delphos, admitted to violating his probation by failing a drug test and associating with felons. Judge Kevin Taylor sentenced Sparrow to 12 months in prison on each of two counts, with the sentences to run concurrently. Judge Taylor also gave Sparrow credit for 55 days already served.

Justine Jerome, 29, of Van Wert, also admitted to violating her probation by failing a drug test. Jerome, who was involved in the drug court substance abuse treatment program at the time of the positive drug test, was deemed not amenable to community control and sentenced to 11 months in prison previously handed down on her original conviction, with 51 days credit for time served.

Also appearing in Common Pleas Court on Wednesday were the following:

Daniel Hunnaman, 37, of Convoy, entered a plea of not guilty to an indictment charging him with possession of drugs, a felony of the fifth degree. He was released on a personal surety bond, and will appear for a pretrial conference at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 11.

Erica Hatfield, 28, of Middle Point, pleaded not guilty to a charge of trafficking in heroin, a fifth-degree felony. She was released on a surety bond and a pretrial conference scheduled for 8 a.m. March 11.

Charles Myers IV, 34, of Van Wert, entered a guilty plea to a prosecutor’s bill of information charging him with possession of drugs, a felony of the fourth degree.

Judge Taylor ordered a presentence investigation in the case and scheduled sentencing for 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 22.
