Betty Louise Owens

Betty Louise Owens, 94, of Van Wert, died at 1:20 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2015, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Convoy.

She was born November 3, 1920, in Adams County, Indiana, the daughter of Joseph William and Pearl (Imler) Feasby, who both preceded her in death. On June 15, 1946, she married Dale Gribler, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1957. She then married Jacob Owens on September 4, 1974, and he died July 18, 2006.

Survivors include a sister, Annabelle Miller of Convoy; a son-in-law, Kim (Bonnie) Hoverman of Van Wert; a grandson, Zachary (Kimberly) Hoverman of Nashville, Tennessee; and special family Karen Goins, Sandy Goodenough, Bobbie Smith and Betty Sidenbender.

A daughter, Mary Jane Hoverman (in 1988), three brothers, William, Carl and Gerald Feasby; and a sister, Geneva Gaskill, also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Owens retired from Canteen Corporation of Van Wert in 1982. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Van Wert .

She was a graduate of Tully-Convoy High School, was a member of National Camper & Hikers for 25 years, was an active member and officer of Compassionate Friends for 19 years and an assistant leader for Campfire Girls for many years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, March 20, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with the Rev. Josh Angel officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at the funeral home.
