Superintendent Jeffrey Snyder first thanked those who plowed the roads this winter. Because of the help given, everyone was able to arrive at school safely.

“We can’t thank you enough” Snyder said to all those involved.

Snyder went on to discuss the upcoming calendar year, as well as makeup days for the current 2014-2015 school year. A makeup day is scheduled during Easter break on Monday, April 6, and another day has been added to the end of the calendar year on Wednesday, May 27. Any future makeup days will result in days being added to the end of the year, the superintendent said.

A Strategic Survey Plan will be released to the community soon and area residents are being asked to keep this in mind and take part in this survey. The survey will extend to people in the district, people who want to be brought into the district, businesses in the district, and anyone who would be willing to participate.

Lincolnview Treasurer Troy Bowersock gave his report, noting that a bond refunding approved by the board has saved the district approximately $2.9 million.

The board also accepted the resignation of cook Karen Kemler, for the purpose of retirement. Snyder spoke on her behalf, adding that she devoted much of her time and dedication to the district, as well as volunteering frequently for school function, and would be missed. Kemler served 28 years with the district.

High School Principal Brad Mendenhall reported that performance testing has finally come to an end. From the time the testing started in February, to the final test on March 12, a total of 21 tests were taken with a total of 1,365 individual tests taken by students in grades 7-12.

Mendenhall also spoke of the College Credit Plus meeting and its success. The board was pleased to learn that an impressive 90 Lincolnview students and parents attended the meeting.

The board approved Al Arnold and Seth Wisener as volunteer track coaches and Stoney Beair as junior high school softball coach, all for the 2014-2015 school year.

The board also accepted the resignation of Lucy Rice, summer bus maintenance worker for 2014-2015; and Sharon Brincefield, bus runner to RODOC and summer bus maintenance employee.

In other action, the board also:

  • Approved alternative energy distribution
  • Approved Elementary Principal Nita McKinney as designated homeless liaison for the 2015-2016 school year

The next scheduled meeting for the Lincolnview Local Board of Education will be held Tuesday, April 21, at 8 p.m. in the Neubrecht Lecture Hall.
