Bylaws, birding are topics for VWAPC
By Rex Dolby

The Van Wert Area Photography Club’s next scheduled meeting is set for Thursday, April 9, 7 p.m., at 114 S. Race St., next to the Van Wert Civic Theatre facility. The club greatly appreciates the meeting place provided by the Civic Theatre organization.
A controversy concerning a couple of points in the new bylaws prevented them from being approved at the last meeting. The bylaw committee is hopeful that those sticking points will be resolved at this meeting. Possibly as an incentive to have your vote count, those attending are reminded that any one can share his/her opinion, but only those with paid-up memberships will be eligible to vote on the issues. Dues are $25 for individuals 18 and older. Additional family members are $5 each up to a limit of $40, even though there may be more than four members in the family.
Switching gears, anyone who has a special interest in birds, should be aware of an event coming up in northern Ohio May 8-17. Doug Heckler alerted us to the “Biggest Week in American Birding” headquartered at the Maumee Bay Lodge and Conference Center on the shore of Lake Erie in Oregon Ohio. If you do a search for: “Biggest Week in American Birding”, and click on “Biggest Week in American Birding-Home” you will get all the information related to the activities for the week, and even a six page list of potential species of birds that might be seen at any one of six different locations. Guided tours, seminars, plus entertainment are all part of the daily offerings. Registration is $35 for 18 and older, $10 for 9-18, and free for under age 9. Hopefully it will be warmer by then.
