Wren Ballpark sets Opening Day activities

WREN — The Wren Ballpark would like to announce Sunday, May 17, as its official Opening Day.

Ceremonies will begin at 1 p.m. with the raising of the flag and the singing of “The National Anthem”. A memorial dedication of a buckeye tree will be planted in honor of longtime ballpark supporter and Wren resident Mark “Bugsy” Henry, who passed away a few months ago.

All players will be recognized with their teams prior to several activities planned for the day. There will be a home run derby for several different age groups, as well as a 50/50 raffle. The concession stand will be serving up food all day.

The opening game will pit both Wren farm teams (the Indians and the Tigers) against each other, with the first pitch starting at 3 p.m.
