Public invited to program on low-light photography

By Rex Dolby

The Van Wert Area Photography Club officers have been busy since the last meeting, which approved our new By-Laws.  They have a conference scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, to learn if the By-Law wording is in compliance with state and federal laws.  The outcome of that meeting will determine if it will need a rewrite or can go to the printers.

The Fair Board has received a list of suggested categories for this year’s County Fair Photography Exhibit as well a judge for the exhibit. Members will again be assisting the Board in receiving pictures, hanging the show, assisting the judge, hosting the exhibit and its take-down.

All the items stored in the Ervin Road facility have been moved to the 114 S. Race location, and are now stacked in various locations in the house till it is determined just what areas will be designated as ours.  A kitchen cabinet has been modified in such a way that it will hold nearly twice as many items, but can easily be restored to its original design.  Still ahead is installing the wall screen and building shelving for the photography library and bulkier items.

Members have been invited to place some of their pictures on display and/or for sale during the Civic Theatre’s final production of the season, Clue.  It appears at this writing that enough members have expressed interest in the idea that there will be photography display for each date there is a Clue performance.

The club’s next regular meeting is Thursday, May 14, at 114 S. Race St. at 7 p.m.  Jan Sorensen will present a program on “Low Light Photography,” which will be open to the public.
