Phase 2 of Courthouse project approved
Van Wert independent/submitted information
Phase 2 of the Van Wert County Courthouse painting project will begin next week, following awarding of a bid on the project this week by the County Board of Commissioners.

The project will include repainting the north, west, and east sides of the Courthouse. The commissioners recently awarded a contract to E. Lee Construction Inc. of Delphos, which submitted the low bid of $57,700.
The commissioners received the company’s work schedule on Tuesday, which noted that work is to begin Monday, May 4, and finish up by Friday, June 5, weather permitting.
Workers will be power washing, spray painting and using heavy equipment throughout the project. The commissioners said E. Lee Construction is recommending that streets beside the Courthouse, parking spots beside the Courthouse and the first two rows of parking behind the Courthouse be kept clear.
Other options for parking include the jail lot, as well as lots on Central Avenue.
Also, the back door of the Courthouse may not be accessible at times, since there will be heavy equipment operating and scaffolding up, and, except in an emergency, Courthouse employees and patrons will only be able to use the front doors until work is completed.
