Carl R. Evans

Carl R. Evans, 85, of Van Wert, died at 6:24 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born December 3, 1929, in Van Wert, the son of George and Adah (Phillips) Evans, who both preceded him in death. He married Beverly (Blue) Evans, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include five children, Sue A. (Gary) Miller of Celina, Robert O. (Vicki Carey) Evans of Van Wert, David A. (Bonnie) Evans of Middle Point, Deborah K. Rominger of Lexington, Kentucky, and Randall S. (Corinne) Evans of Dublin; a brother, John (Margaret) Evans of Middle Point; one sister-in-law, Betty Evans of Van Wert; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Two brothers, Everett and Lloyd Evans; a sister, Opal Barfell; and two grandchildren, also preceded her in death.

Carl retired from Ohio Power Company after 42 years of service. He liked to golf and go camping.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, May 11, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.

Calling hours are from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
