John A. Trentman
John A. Trentman, 87, of Delphos, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 16, 1928, in Delphos, the son of Sylvester and Katherine (Stauterman) Trentman, who both preceded him in death. On September 6, 1952, he married Norma Marie (Rode) Trentman, who died November 1, 2014.
He is survived by seven children, Helen (Paul) Dorsten of Dayton, Marilyn (Ted) Kerner of Delphos, Michael (Valerie) Trentman of Cincinnati, Karen (Tom) Martin and Jean (Tony) Sroufe, both of Elida, and Roger (Diane) Trentman and Kevin (Leslie) Trentman, both of Fort Jennings; 16 grandchildren, Matt (Rebecca) Dorsten, Andrea (Eric) Munn, Eric (Lisa) Kerner, Lisa (Chris) Herron, Becky Trentman, Liz Trentman, Jen (Nate) Moore, Julie (Jason) Booth, Andrew (Kristin) Sroufe, Brian (Christine) Sroufe, Renee (Steve) Jacquemin, Travis (Melinda) Trentman, Bradley Trentman, Lindsey Trentman, Luke Trentman and Nick Trentman; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (Donnie) Trentman; his in-laws, Monica (Don) Miller, Dorothy (Nub) Grothause, Art Rode Jr., Sister Toni Rode and Ron (Mary Lou) Rode.
A granddaughter, Melissa Trentman; one brother, James Trentman; in-laws Mary Trentman, Jerome Rode, Pat Rode and HH “Red” Koester, also preceded him in death.
John retired from General Dynamics in Lima and was a lifelong farmer. He previously worked at the former Chrysler Amplex plant in Van Wert. He was a 1946 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School.
He was an active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, where he volunteered for 25 years for the St. Vincent DePaul Society, and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1362 in Delphos. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday, May 15, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Father Ron Schock officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Delphos, with military honors performed by the Delphos Veterans Council.
Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at Strayer Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St. in Delphos, with a parish wake to be held at 2 that afternoon. Visitation will also be held prior to services Friday at the funeral home.
