Staying afloat

Van Wert Elementary 4th-5th grade IET (Intervention Enrichment Time) students from Michelle Turnwald's room recently competed in a Boat Launch Challenge at the YMCA to go along with their “Shipwrecked Unit". Competitors had to create a boat that would hold them up in the water for three minutes using only cardboard and duct tape. Harvey McMillen was the official timekeeper for the event. The students thank Tecumseh Packing Solutions and ACE Hardware for donating supplies, the YMCA for the use of the pool, and Martha Martin, Aquatics Director, for acting as lifeguard.
