Tank returns to Delphos

Delphos tank refurbished 960 px 5-2015

A World War II-era tank that has been an icon for the Delphos community for years arrived back home recently after being refurbished. For years, the tank stood in front of the Delphos Public Library, before being moved to American Legion Post 268 in the late 1950s or early 1960s. The M5A1 “Stuart” light tank was refurbished by a local group that sandblasted it, applied a new coat of paint and made needed repairs. The tank originally had a 12-cylinder Cadillac engine, but that has now been removed. (photo submitted)
