Paulding teen dies in 1-vehicle accident

CRANE TOWNSHIP — A Paulding teenager died Tuesday in a one-vehicle crash that occurred on U.S. 127, near Ohio 111, in Paulding County.
According to investigators from the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Skyler D. Huth, 18, was northbound on U.S. 127 at approximately 7:39 a.m. Tuesday when his 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck veered off the left side of the highway. The pickup struck a power pole and then a tree and Huth, who sustained fatal injuries, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Paulding County Coroner’s Office.
The highway was closed for several hours to clean up the crash scene. Huth was not wearing a seatbelt, while alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Paulding Fire and EMS, Gideon’s Towing, AEP and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
The crash remains under investigation.
