Robert H. Snyder of Convoy died at 2:36 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center after he lost his battle with sarcoid mesothelioma.

He was born March 23, 1951, in Adams County, Indiana, the son of Forest O. and Louise (Headley) Snyder, who both preceded him in death. On May 1, 1971, he married Marjorie Ann (Davis) Snyder, who passed away on March 24, 2002. On January 25, 2003, he married Colleen (Schaadt) Snyder, who survives in Convoy.

Other survivors include four children, Chad (Stephanie) Snyder of Soldotna, Alaska, Jeremy (Jamie) Etzler of South Solon, Hollie (Sean) Ford of Van Wert and Mandi (Terry) Scarlett of Convoy; a brother, Fred L. Snyder of Ohio City; 12 grandchildren, Emma, Madison, Heidi and Mason Snyder, Austin and Justin Etzler, Olivia and Sophia Ford; Courtney (Michael) Harr, Evan, Ean and Elijah Scarlett; and a great-grandchild, Brady Harr.

A sister, Joann Ryan, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Snyder was a retired heavy maintenance mechanic at B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn, Indiana, and had been a longtime dairy farmer. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy, was a past member and officer of Wren Ballpark Association, a former member of the Wren Volunteer Fire Department, and a past member of United Steel Workers local 715.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy, with the Rev. Michael Saylor officiating. Burial will be in Redeemer Lutheran Church cemetery near Convoy.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 26, at Gearhart-Jurczyk Funeral Home in Convoy and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Preferred memorials: Puppet program at Redeemer Lutheran Church or AWANA at Pleasant View Church.
