VW Marlins defeat Sherwood swim team

VW Marlins information

This past Monday, the Van Wert YMCA Marlins hosted the Lima Sherwood Swim club at the local YMCA, with the Marlins defeating Sherwood 410-166.

Leading the way for the Marlins and winning all of their individual events by age group were: 8 & Under — Sam Houg (5); 9-10 — Tyra McClain (4); 11-12 — Jamie Burenga (5) and Jayden Welker (5); 13-14 — Katie McVaigh (4) and Dylan Neate (5).

Also with first-place finishes by age group were: 8 & Under – Lillie Mull (2), Rory Youngpeter (1), Mandy Burenga (1), 9-10 – Gracie Mull (1) and Luke Miller (1). 11-12 – Sadie Welker (1); Ian Rex (2) and Marcus Freewalt (1). 13-14 – Erin Miller (1) and Rickie Welker (1). 15 & Over – Chloe Brake (2); Bethany Fast (2) and Hannah Stemen (2).

The Marlins season record now stands at 2-1 after they dropped their first meet of the season to the large and strong Wapakoneta Community Pool team. The Marlins then hosted and defeated Kenton on June 15, while there was also a rainout on June 18 at Bluffton Community Pool.
