Gerald E. Richey

Gerald E. Richey, 70, of Van Wert, died at 8:10 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born March 3, 1945, in Fort Wayne, the son of George R. and Virginia M. (Kemerly) Richey, who both preceded him in death. On January 6, 1968, he married Monica (Schaadt) Richey, who also preceded him in death.

Survivors include four sons, Sheridan Richey and Jared (Cindy) Richey, both of Columbus, Adam Richey of Antwerp and Patrick Richey of Van Wert; a daughter, Molly (Trevor) Berryman of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, Nick, Abby, Brian, Catlyn, Grace, Hanna, Zack and Holly; and a great-grandchild, Oliver. A sister, Gwen Woods; and two brothers, Bob Richey of Rockford and Dave Richey of Van Wert, also survive.

A daughter, Bridget Richey; and a brother, Joseph Richey, also preceded him in death.

He was employed at Federal-Mogul Corporation for over 40 years. He had been a member of the Outdoorsmen Club and really enjoyed fishing and hunting. For many years, he had volunteered at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Father Stanley Szybka officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-7 p.m. Monday, June 29, at the funeral home.
