Ruth M. Reed

Ruth M. Reed, 97, of Grover Hill, died Monday, June 29, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

She was born January 8, 1918, in York Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of William H. and Hazel (Farling) Ries, who both preceded her in death. She married Homer J. Reed, who also preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Reed Pruden of Grover Hill; one sister, Margaret Ries Springer of Sun City, Florida; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Marilyn Reed Lockie; one son, Douglas Reed; a sister, Wanda Olive Prior; and three brothers, William Samuel Ries, Paul Edward Ries and Robert Wayne Ries, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 3, at Zion United Methodist Church in Grover Hill, with Jack Fetter, director of Fetter & Friends Ministry, officiating. Burial will be in Middle Creek Cemetery in rural Paulding County.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and two hours prior to services Friday at the church.
