Gary L. Werts

Gary L. Werts, 69, of Van Wert, died at 7:05 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at his residence.

He was born January 25, 1946, in Van Wert, a son of William H. and Ruth V. (Schuster) Werts, who both preceded him in death. On February 19, 1972, he married Diana L. (Burdge) Werts, who survives in Van Wert.

Surviving are three sons, Aaron D. (Tina) Werts of Monroeville, Indiana, Timothy L. (Cory) Werts of Delphos and James A. (Tiffany) Werts of Van Wert; eight grandchildren, Zachary D. Werts, Logan M. Werts and Addison M. Werts, all of Monroeville, Cassidy D. Werts, Lydia C. Werts and Timothy J. Werts, all of Delphos, and Lainey R. Werts and Camdyn W. Werts, both of Van Wert; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Werts of Arkansas and Emily Werts of Convoy; and two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Terry and Malinda Shellabarger of Van Wert and Richard and Cheryl Burdge of Ohio City.

Mr. Werts retired in 2000 from Federal-Mogul Corporation in Van Wert after 35 years of employment. He was also a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Van Wert.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at Liberty Baptist Church in Van Wert, with the Rev. Mike Smith officiating.

Calling hours are from 2-6 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Preferred memorials: Van Wert County Humane Society or Liberty Baptist Church.
