Emmett D. Cox

Emmett D. Cox, 88, of Huntington, Indiana, died at 12:24 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation in Huntington.

He was born October 12, 1926, in Clay County, Kansas, the son of Jesse and Mamie Belle (Reed) Cox, who both preceded him in death. On August 14, 1948, he married Shirley Ruth (Betterly) Cox, who survives in Huntington.

Other survivors include a son, Douglas Wayne (Rebecca) Cox of Roanoke, Indiana; one daughter, Darlene Juanita (Dennis) Salway of Willshire; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a foster son, Billy Simbo of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania; four foster grandchildren; and three foster great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Dianne LaRita Cox; one brother, Jesse Loyal; and a sister, Joy B. Campbell, also preceded him in death.

A memorial service and burial will be conducted at a later date.

Calling hours are from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive in Huntington, Indiana.
