Interested in having some good, clean, family-friendly fun this summer? If so, then come on down to the 2015 Van Wert Rib Fest and “wallow” around with the YWCA at its fourth annual Rib Fest Pig Races.

During the event, held at 4 p.m. Saturday, August 8, in the covered show arena at Van Wert County Fairgrounds, those who attend will witness six races showcasing some of the area’s most talented and abundantly adorable pigs.

Each group of pigs will battle it out for first place of their heat and for bragging rights of fastest “Piglet Porker.” This is sure to be a fun family event, or a fun guys’ or girls’ night out.

Each race is comprised of 10 pigs, who all have “designer” names and sponsors. The YWCA is currently seeking businesses and individuals to sponsor and name pigs for this event. For additional information about sponsorships, call the YWCA at 419.238.6639. All proceeds from this “pig spectacular” fundraiser support the YWCA Youth Enrichment Programs.

The goal of the YWCA Youth Enrichment Programs is to nourish the bodies and minds of children by providing them with nutrient-rich meals that will support their physical growth and interactive activities that will improve their education.

The YWCA is a United Way and Van Wert County Foundation funded agency. YWCA general operating hours are Monday-Thursday, 6:30 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Friday, 6:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
